1. Latency

The world shutting down did something strange to time. Things ground to a halt, were delayed then delayed again, postponing the postponed, knocked out of sync or slowed till they barely moved. Other things spun out of control, sped up to unimaginable rates, a breakneck pace of constant change, things progressing and evolving faster than thought possible, impossible to keep up with, overwhelming. I think for creatives, particularly those of us whose lives are a strange spattering of that which freelance life involves without the steady pulse of a 9-to-5, projects that’d have been fairly straightforward now unfold with strange flurries of activity separated by stagnant months. Such was the process of this collaboration: a Tweet from Yaz seeing if anyone wanted to create something together while stuck at home, to energetically writing most of this track in a short week or two, to now three years of intermittently putting the pieces together to finally release this EP, all hampered by the latency of cross-continental communications.
